This nomination is not just about one poem. It feels like another step toward breaking the generational code of silence surrounding sexual violence—from the hidden stories of women like my grandmother in 1893 to the courageous survivors speaking out today.
May we continue to name the truth, honor those who were never heard, and help bring an end to the shame, silences and silencing that far too many have endured.
